Haha you copied me with Rhythm of My Heart Steph Razz hahaha?

I really think the album is very solid, and such a HUGE but good departure from ADD. I was literally surprised when I first heard it, with how good and different it was (I've actually had it a while, a ninja friend of mine shared with me about a month ago lol). But like I said, I have stronger opinions about this album. There isn't a song on ADD I just hate, or just love more than life haha, but there are probably 5 songs I love more than life on HOV hahaha, but there are 2 songs I really dislike. But I think as far as him representing himself, and his different sides he did that very well.

Also I'd like to add. I think the beats are AMAZING on HOV and far better than on ADD, but I must say I think ADD was better written, in my opinion. Some of these songs come off a little cheesy. But it is cluby dance songs, I don't think it particularly matters.

Can I kill the mood? :]]

So basically, I went out and bought the CD a few weeks ago and was super stoked to listen to it. Once I uploaded it and finally got the chance to listen to the album, I'd have to say that my Top 5 Songs [in order] are: The Remedy, Binary Love, Heartbreak On Vinyl, The Point, and Love or Torture. In all honestly, aside from when my iPod is playing whilst I am asleep, those are pretty much the only songs I have truly listened to. I mean, I have listened to every other track on HOV, but overall I can say that they are kinda unappealing. And by that I kinda mean I think they aren't good hate them. LOL. But that is just my opinion, of course.

Freak: I honestly don't understand it. It just sounds kinda... crappy.
Rhythm Of My Heart: Simply not one of my picks in general.
Afraid: It does have it's moments for me, I won't lie. But overall the techyness of it kills it for me.
Left My Baby For You: For anyone who has seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall... Connect how it sounds to Peter's Vampire Play and you'll understand how much I hate it. LOL!!
Rebel Without a Cause: Love the intro beat, once the song starts I kinda hate it, he sounds pretty sick in his chorus though. But overall... Eh.
SuperScratchaVocalisticTurntableLicious: Love the name, no lie. Aaahha. But that's about it.
Our Rapture Of Love: I like the story! :33

So basically songs: 1,2,11,12, and 13 are the songs I really only listen to.

Personally, I kinda give the CD a 6-7 out of 10. But that's just me. Aaaaaahahhaa.
That was some shit of a Review, I have to say. lol!

Yea, it seems like some people are resisting it because it's "not ADD" I kinda wish the first single was something else, or the first 2 songs we heard weren't the 2 that sound like they could of been off ADD, so we would of been better prepared for the album, the first time I listened I was like woah he wasn't kidding about it being different haha.

I think with HOV the songs that are good, like Binary Love, are SOOO much better than any song on ADD I kinda brush off the songs I don't like. I like that it's kinda rougher? Not as polished as ADD was, it has an edge, a grittiness to it. I do skip around a lot as well. I think it just displays all of his sides, not everyone is gonna like all of his sides, but at least it's well rounded.

I love HoV about a million times more than ADD.

But I really love the whole dance electronic techno-y vibe HoV offers.

Agree, but I'm now more into HOV instead of A.D.D, i still love his second album
it's just.. different, fresh and everyone should give it a few listens
with just only one of the whole album you won't realize if you like it or not

If I could mix both CDs into one... I'd do:

How Many Words
The Point
Our Rapture Of Love
Binary Love
Without You
Hate 2 Love Her
Gots 2 Get Her
Surrender
Heartbreak On Vinyl
I Got U
1000 Miles
The Remedy

Maybe not in that exact order; I have to listen to them all first. But yea. :] T's my mix of the two CDs since I kinda prefer ADD over HOV, except both have pretty good songs. :]

That is all.
G'night.

HoV is growing on me a bit..ish. But I still prefer ADD. It has nothing to do with the style of music either, because I love dance music. I just think the songs are better.

Yeah if I could mix the two I'd mostly incluse ADD songs. I'd probably do it like this.

End of the World
Break Anotha
The Point
I Got U
Our Rapture of Love
Surrender
Afraid
Gots to Get Her
The Remedy
Sad Song
Know My Name
1000 Miles
How Many Words

^That would make the perfect album for me <3 haha =]

I guess I'll do one..

Heartbreak on Vinyl--
I love this song. I love everything about it. It's so..Blake. I don't know. I just love it.

Binary Love--
Love the beginning part. The vocals on this are pretty much flawless. Definitely a raaad song. Not my fave, but not my least fave. I sing it a lot.

Freak--
I absolutely LOVE this song. My second favorite. I totally carch myself singing it all the time. Like when I was dress shopping with my friend, and I was zipping her dress up, and I was like, "Oooh! Your body like a FREAK!" <--Awkward moment right there.

Sad Song--
I like this song. A lot. On my iPod anyway, it's overplayed. Not my personal choice for a single..but whatever.

Rhythym of my Heart--
I really do like this song. Took a while to grow on me. Really didn't like it much at first. Love it now. Maybe..a little cheesy..but totally adorable in a Blake way.

Afraid--
Tied for my second favorite. I'm always singing it out loud. Such a fun song with a cute message. Loved it from the first listen. Very electro.

Left My Baby For You--
For sure my absolute FAVORITE! I listen to this song alllllllll the timeeee!! It like NEVER gets old. My sister is even like obsessed with this song. We both sing it all the time. BTW: He sounds much better in his falsetto than I do. Like the message. Love the "Sweet Nothings" part. Easily the most listened to for me. Very 80's. Which I love muchly. I love how Prince-ish it is. I love Prince. :-D This song is a hit for me. Best one on the CD.

Rebel Without a Cause--
Just from the title, I knew I'd love it. And I do. Not one of my FAVORITES, but it's up there.

SuperScratchaVocalisticTurntableLicious--
Never really been a fan of his just beatboxing tracks. This is no differemt. Awesome name, though. A+ on the name for sure.

Our Rapture of Love--
Mehh..not my fave. Probably my least fave. Not my type I guess.

The Point--
Boring..ballad-ish. I know you have to put at least ONE ballad on there, but I don't know..not a fan of this one.

The Remedy--
It's cute. I like the message. Relates everything back to music. Very Blake-ish.

Love Or Torture--
Love it. Third favorite. For sure. Fun to dance to. Very electro..which I love.

Overall: 8.5/10

HOV>ADD

My review of Heartbreak On Vinyl featured in the newspapers, November 15 2009. I also won a pair of movie tickets Happy

90% of this is what I wrote, seeing as some edits were made (which I didn’t realize until I read it against my original). I've never really written any music reviews before so I thought this kinda sucked but I guess it's good since they chose to feature it? Haha. I submitted this 2 weeks ago and didn't see it in the newspapers last week so I thought maybe my review didn't get chosen. But I was just flipping through yesterday and saw it. It was a pleasant surprise as I just submitted this for fun, hoping it would get featured so more people will know about the album.

Quote:
He was the resident beat boxer on the sixth season of American Idol. His debut album, Audio Day Dream, sold 300,000 copies and made the number 10 spot on the Billboard Chart.

2 years on, Blake Lewis is now signed to Tommy Boy Entertainment and has just released his sophomore album, Heartbreak On Vinyl.

The album opens with the title track, Heartbreak On Vinyl, which as Lewis describes as an ode to all the record stores that have been closing down due to “the industry eating itself”. With its catchy tune and lyrics, you’ll find yourself singing along to this song.

Binary Love and Freak are definitely representative of the dance/electronic feel that Lewis had set out to achieve in this album. The seductive beats and nerdy lyrics are a winning combination.

The first single of the album, Sad Song, is an anthem for the broken-hearted. Overall, it has a great ’80s vibe, but is nowhere close to being a sad song!

If you are a fan of Top 40 music, you will love Rhythm of My Heart and Afraid. The latter, written and produced by Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins and Jordan Omley, is reminiscent of Forever by Chris Brown, but more edgy.

The Remedy is a “feel good” song with an infectious chorus. The production on Love or Torture is great, and I see it as a potential club hit that gets everyone dancing.

As this is more of a dance/electronic album, one song that really caught me by surprise is The Point. Lewis’s endearing vocals bring out the emotions in the ballad very well, and brought a tear to my eye!

Other songs like Left My Baby for You, Rebel Without a Cause, and Our Rapture of Love are also beautifully crafted. And of course, there’s also Lewis’s signature scratching on SuperScratchaVocalisticTurnatableLicious (trust him to come up with a title like that!).

Take a trip down memory lane, back to the good old electro-filled days of the ’80s, with Heartbreak On Vinyl by Blake Lewis.
